Snaptoolbox v1.2
This Plugin lets you control all available snappings in 3DCoat.
It visualizes all active snappings by button highlighting. The state is taken from actual 3DCoat values. You can toggle snappings while drawing a curve, eliminating the need to navigate sub-menus. It is a great fundamental tool for using modifiers which can be a challenging task. Working with this simple Toolbox should result in a quicker workflow, making it easier to work with all curve based tools.
Usage:
- I suggest mapping a hotkey to the Snaptoolbox. You can assign one by pressing the “end” key of your Keyboard while hovering over the command in the menu.
- There is a User Guide in Menu Addons/Snaptoolbox/. It contains several short clips explaining each snap. This is also a good start for using curves in general.
- Activate the Toolbox. Select the appropriate snappings and hit the draw button. You can edit the snappings while in draw mode. Each point might have a different requirement.
- On the top-bar you have 3 buttons: grid-sliders panel, switch layout, close
Tip:
Unlike generators, modifiers and nurbs should remain parametric as long as possible, allowing flexible adjustments to the model. If you want to work with sculpt-tools like cutoff, pose or move Tool, you have to duplicate the modifier layer. Otherwise you will get a warning from 3DCoat.
I hope that can be mixed in the future, without having to break the parametric history.
Features:
- Completely new and easy framework for showing customized tools based on Qt
- Switchable layouts: symbol and text, two row only symbols, 3 rows symbol
- Resizable widgets
- Detailed mouse-over tips
- Grid settings with sliders, supporting value entries
- Support of Scalable-Vector-Graphics (.svg) as Icons
- Automatic focus interacting with 3DCoats native viewport on windows
- Binding to 3DCoat Main frame by ctypes (windows)
- Now automatically detects the system. The same functionality on non-windows, but one extra click in viewport may be needed.
About ctc_nick:
Hi, I am an independent technical artist. While working with curves, I found one important feature for constructing would be centralizing tools for the ease of use. So I created this tool, and on that journey I also found out a lot of other things, that are helpful. Now, I want to share that knowledge with you. More is to come.
I hope you enjoy using this plugin!
Best regards, ctc_nick
